Make your mark as ROV Operations Lead at Boskalis Subsea Services in Aberdeen. You will be accountable for the day‑to‑day operational management of the ROV department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and technically compliant execution of offshore and remote ROV operations. The role is responsible for maintaining operational readiness, compliance with company procedures, and alignment with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

Acting as Deputy to the ROV Manager, the postholder provides leadership across operational delivery, technical support functions, and offshore personnel. The role supports the consistent application of company operational standards and safety objectives while contributing to the effective coordination of resources and activities.

The ROV Operations Lead provides operational oversight of ROV assets, personnel, and supporting technical functions and serves as the primary point of escalation for operational matters in the absence of the ROV Manager, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision‑making.

Your responsibilities as ROV Operations Lead:

The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited too;

  • Lead the daily operational activities of the ROV department.
  • Ensure safe and efficient delivery of ROV services across all projects.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Offshore Construction Managers and Vessel Management teams.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ROV Supervisors, Technical Support Engineers and ROC teams.
  • Ensure clear communication channels between offshore crews and onshore support functions.
  • Provide senior operational and technical input into ROV system performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate with Technical Support Engineers to resolve operational faults and system issues.
  • Provide operational oversight of ROV operations conducted via the Remote Operations Centre.
  • Ensure communication and control protocols between offshore systems and ROC are maintained.
  • Support crewing and resource planning in collaboration with the crewing team.
  • Ensure adequate personnel coverage for operational projects.
  • Ensure ROV operations comply with company HSEQ policies and industry best practices.
  • Promote proactive reporting of faults, incidents and safety observations.

Qualifications

You can make your mark as ROV Operations Lead if you have:

  • 8-10 years Subsea/Offshore ROV operations experience.
  • 3 years (or more) experience in a senior Supervisor capacity (ROV Supervisor / Senior ROV Supervisor / Project Manager)
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Hydraulic, or Mechatronic Engineering. Alternatively, substantial time-served trade qualification with progression evidence
  • Strong knowledge of Work Class ROV systems and associated tooling.
  • Understanding of ROV maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • Familiarity with remote operations / ROC environments desirable.

Extra information

  • Your team: you will form part of a team of experienced ROV professionals and act as Line Manager for onshore ROV functional support staff, onshore ROC ROV personnel and offshore ROV personnel.
  • Where you will work: Your location will be our office in Aberdeen.
  • Full/part- time job: The position of ROV Operations Lead is full time, 35 hours per week.
