Job Description

Location: Rye, NY

Compensation: $35–38 per hour

Commitment Level: Full-time, long-term, sleep-in (rotational)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Schedule: Rotating schedule alongside a second nanny. 8-hour days beginning at 6:15 AM, with a mid-day break between the school drop-off and after-school blocks. Includes 7–10 overnight stays per month and approximately two weekends per month. During family travel, school breaks, and the second nanny's time off, the schedule shifts to extended blocks with live-in coverage.

Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview

A family in Rye, New York is seeking an experienced Nanny/Family Assistant to support three children ages 7, 6, and 4. This is a dual role — hands-on childcare during the morning and after-school blocks, with family assistant and household support during the mid-day hours while the children are at school. It is primarily live-out with a sleep-in component: the nanny stays overnight 7–10 nights per month and otherwise returns home at the end of the day. Hours rotate with a second nanny so the family has continuous coverage.

The home is staffed with a second nanny and housekeeping. The Nanny/Family Assistant is a day-to-day point of coordination for the children's routines, the family calendar, and household logistics. The family does not have a tutor on staff and is seeking someone who can personally tutor the children at an elementary level. A background in teaching, education, or formal training in early childhood education is a strong plus. Spanish is a plus, not a requirement.

The children have one to two weeks off from school roughly every six weeks, plus summer vacation, and the family travels during these periods. The nanny travels with the family, with schedules on the road running in extended blocks — approximately two weeks on followed by time off. When the second nanny is traveling or on vacation, this nanny provides live-in coverage for the duration. Summers include stays in France and Nantucket, so a valid passport is required. The family is looking for someone deeply dedicated to their household — a career professional who is fully invested in the children, flexible with the family's rhythm, and committed to staying long term.

Benefits:

  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week
  • Two weeks paid vacation
  • Private bedroom with Jack-and-Jill bathroom on overnight and live-in stays
  • Vehicle provided for all work-related driving
  • On-site parking
  • Mid-day break each working day
  • Travel with the family, including summer stays in France and Nantucket

Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, engaged care for three children ages 7, 6, and 4, including morning routines from 6:15 AM, meals, evening routines, and bedtime
  • Work a rotating schedule alongside a second nanny, including approximately two weekends and 7–10 overnights per month
  • Provide live-in coverage during the second nanny's travel and vacation periods
  • Drive children to and from school, activities, appointments, and outings in the provided vehicle
  • Provide homework support and hands-on tutoring across core elementary subjects, plus age-appropriate enrichment
  • Manage children's laundry, rooms, play areas, and gear
  • Maintain the household and family calendar — school events, activities, appointments, and travel
  • Handle personal assistant tasks including errands, returns and exchanges, deliveries and package management, gift purchasing, appointment scheduling, household inventory and stocking, and expense tracking as directed
  • Coordinate day-to-day with the household team
  • Manage travel preparation and household readiness before and after trips; travel with the family, including internationally
  • Accompany the family to club activities and assist with one medium-size dog
  • Supervise children in and around the pool, including swimming with them, and uphold household safety standards
  • Flexibly pivot to support the family's needs on busy days

Requirements:

  • Prior professional nanny experience with multiple children, ideally in a staffed household
  • Prior family assistant or personal assistant experience, including calendar management and errand-based support
  • Demonstrated ability to tutor elementary-age children across core subjects
  • Background in teaching or education, or formal education in early childhood development, strongly preferred
  • Available for 7–10 overnights per month, approximately two weekends per month, 6:15 AM starts, and extended live-in coverage during travel and the second nanny's time off
  • Valid driver's license and confidence driving in the Rye, NY area
  • Valid passport, or eligibility to obtain one, and availability for international travel
  • Strong swimmer, comfortable supervising and swimming with children; comfortable with a pool and dogs
  • Conversational or fluent Spanish preferred, not required
  • Highly organized, proactive, professional, and discreet in a team household
  • Deeply committed to the family long term, with a track record of extended tenure in prior positions
  • Must be able to provide 3–5 professional references
