Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions – new equipment, retrofits, maintenance, outage planning and more – for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Rotational Development Engineer candidate to be based out of our West Allis, WI location. This is an entry-level role designed for graduating seniors and recent college graduates who want broad, hands-on exposure to the power generation industry. Over approximately one year, the employee rotates through Turbine Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Field Engineering to learn how steam turbine and generator service, repair, and customer projects move from planning through execution. The employee supports technical evaluations, project coordination, shop activities, and field outage work while building practical engineering, communication, and problem-solving skills. After successful completion of the program, the employee transitions to a permanent position based on business needs, demonstrated strengths, performance, fit, and available opportunities.

Essential Duties

  • Complete four functional rotations in Turbine Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Field Engineering over approximately twelve months.
  • Support planning and execution of steam turbine and generator service, repair, and refurbishment projects.
  • Learn and apply project workflows related to scheduling, budgeting, risk management, documentation, and customer coordination.
  • Assist with inspection planning, technical evaluation, troubleshooting, testing, repair development, and technical documentation.
  • Work with engineering personnel to understand how technical decisions support safe, high-quality, and commercially effective project execution.
  • Support shop-based repair and refurbishment activities and learn manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and quality assurance processes.
  • Build practical knowledge of turbine and generator components, tools, repair techniques, productivity expectations, and quality requirements.
  • Participate in a customer-site outage and support field execution, work sequencing, field documentation, shift coverage, and team communication.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Shop Operations, Field Support, Commercial, Quality, and customer-facing teams.
  • Prepare clear technical notes, reports, updates, and other documentation for assigned work.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, health, quality, security, and site-specific requirements.
  • Adapt to changing assignments, work schedules, priorities, and business needs throughout the program.
  • Demonstrate learning, accountability, teamwork, and professional conduct during each rotation.

Education and Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree completed by the employment start date in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical or operational discipline.
  • No prior full-time engineering experience required.
  • Internship, co-op, laboratory, capstone, shop, field, manufacturing, project, or other related technical experience preferred.

  • Work prioritization and time management
  • Teamwork across technical and operational groups
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply feedback
  • Adaptability in office, shop, and customer-site environments
  • Basic data analysis and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Exposure to document management systems, project tools, SolidWorks, or engineering analysis software preferred

Physical Requirements (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.)

The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.
