Rotating Shift Supervisor - Specialty Oils Refinery - Quincy, IL

Under the direction of the Plant Superintendent, the Shift Supervisor is primarily responsible for the operation, supervision, and performance of the Quincy Specialty Oils Refinery on their assigned team. This position will be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays that fall within the rotation.

Job Duties

  • Act at all times in accordance with ADM’s Code of Conduct. Treat everyone fairly and with respect. Display honesty and integrity to set the example of professionalism for their team.
  • Lead, participate and support all safety and environmental rules and regulations applicable to the position. Lead the work of all production employees.
  • Responsible for supervising all production, loadout, and acidulation staff during shift.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all employees. Communicate effectively via various methods including email, phone, and face to face meetings.
  • Adhere to and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, FSMA and SQF requirements. Follow all loadout and lab procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide solutions, build partnerships, and promote collaboration across various teams including production, maintenance and quality. Ensure efficient completion of tasks to optimize operations, reduce downtime.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure all safe work permits are filled out accurately, fully, and timely. First line involvement with lock out/tag out procedures and confined space entries.
  • Monitor, review, suggest, and direct initiatives for continuous improvement in all areas of operations.
  • Actively participate in a Performance Excellence pillar and promote shift team involvement in Performance Excellence
  • Review employee performance and assist in employee development.
  • Actively engage in daily review and response meetings with peer supervisors and leadership team and engage in weekly review and response meetings with Refinery Superintendent.
  • Monitor equipment throughout facility by conducting regular area inspections and walk throughs. Report concerns to maintenance staff, via established work order system.
  • Communicate with formulator to coordinate, optimize and execute production schedule to meet customer orders. Assist with scheduling and daily production records as needed.
  • Administer supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring and training employees, performance appraisals, counseling, resolving conflicts.
  • Develop a strong partnership and positive relationship with plant management, planning, transportation, quality and inventory control.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Flexibility and positive outlook regarding unexpected changes in work routines.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or a GED equivalent is required
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • Two (2) years of experience in a Team Lead or Supervisor role is preferred.
  • Strong Organization and Communication Skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization is required
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Guardian (Incident Tracking Database) is required
  • Physical job duties include bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, working at heights, elevated areas, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc. with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$58,100.00 - $108,000.00
