The Role

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Level 1 or Level 2 Rope Access Crane Technician to join our team on Shell Prelude FLNG. The role will be a casual with an initial 3 week swing from 13.09 - 06.10, potentially turning into a fixed 3-on/3-off ongoing roster. In this role, you will perform tasks at heights using rope access techniques, set up various rigging equipment, assist in crane maintenance and inspection duties, and adhere to strict safety protocols. The candidate must have a mechanical fitter or equivalent Australian trade certificate and IRATA Level 1 or 2. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rigging and mechanical rope access tasks at height under the supervision of a Level 3 rope access technician and maintenance supervisor
  • Set up rigging equipment including soft slings, chain hoists, deflector sheaves etc
  • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring personal safety and the safety of the team during operations
  • Regularly inspect and maintain rope access equipment to ensure it is in good working condition and safe for use
  • Transport tools and materials to work sites
  • Carry out basic crane maintenance, lubrication and inspection tasks at height, as directed by supervisors
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling rope access systems, ensuring they meet safety standards and job requirements
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with team members during rope access operations
  • Complete all required documentation related to safety checks, equipment usage, and work performed

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Valid IRATA Level 1 or 2 certification and logbook (Essential)
  • Offshore tickets – BOSIET, CA-EBS, MSIC, EWICS and WSAH (Essential)
  • Previous experience in rope access or working at heights (Essential)
  • Trade qualification such as Mechanic, Fitter or Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Essential)
  • Offshore oil & gas experience
  • Crane maintenance experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to rope access and working at heights
  • Good physical condition, with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in challenging environments
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, following instructions from supervisors and collaborating with colleagues
  • Basic problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges during rope access operations
