Program Summary
rootEd Missouri is a statewide initiative designed to improve postsecondary outcomes for students from Missouri’s rural communities. rootEd supports districts' dedicated college and career advisors through a partnership with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Through this partnership, advisors have been placed in rural Missouri high schools. These advisors work alongside school counselors and district leadership to ensure every student graduates with a postsecondary plan.
Ozarks Technical Community College (Ozarks Tech), sponsored by rootEd, will work with DESE to set the vision and direction of this program, provide training and ongoing support to school-based advisors, collect data to evaluate the success of the program, and increase community engagement and business partnerships to strengthen postsecondary outcomes.
The Regional Director (RD) will serve as the coach and primary point of contact for all school-based rootEd advisors within a given geography with the goal of increasing the number of students within his/her designated schools that leave high school on a path to career success and economic stability. The RD will ensure the success of the school-based advisors providing them with initial and ongoing training, supporting them to build a plan that will reach all students, problem-solving around ongoing challenges, and coaching advisors to use key performance indicators and progress toward goals to inform and adjust their plans. The RD will support the broader rootEd initiative by partnering with advisors and school districts to collect both quantitative and qualitative data on student and advisor success and elevate advising best practices that have been proven to be successful within his/her schools. Additionally, the Regional Director will maintain strong relationships with partner district and school leadership building investment in the program and provide regular updates on progress within the school. To further rootEd’s mission, the RD will actively promote community engagement and cultivate partnerships with local business and industry leaders, helping to expand access to career opportunities.
