Job Description

Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Oliver Hospitality. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

The Rooms Division Manager oversees all operations within the Rooms Division — including Front Office, Housekeeping, and Guest Services — ensuring exceptional guest experiences, efficient department operations, and strong financial performance at The Sarasota Modern. This role leads a team dedicated to delivering the property's boutique, design-forward brand of hospitality while maintaining the operational rigor and service standards guests expect.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads and manages the daily operations of the Front Office and related Rooms Division departments, ensuring smooth check-in/check-out processes, room readiness, and guest satisfaction.
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, and develops department supervisors and team members, fostering a culture of accountability and service excellence.
  • Partners with Sales, Housekeeping, and Engineering to align room inventory, occupancy forecasts, and maintenance needs. Responds to and resolves guest concerns and escalations promptly, using sound judgment to protect the guest experience and the hotel's reputation.
  • Conducts regular property walkthroughs and inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and brand standards are consistently met.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures across Rooms Division departments in line with company and brand expectations. Ensures compliance with all applicable health, safety, and labor regulations.
  • Analyzes guest feedback (surveys, reviews, comment cards) and operational data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. Serves as a member of the hotel's leadership team, contributing to broader property strategy and goals. Acts as Manager on Duty as scheduled, assuming property-wide responsibility during those shifts.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory-level experience within a Marriott-branded property is required. Prior experience in a Rooms Division leadership role (Front Office Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Guest Services Manager, or similar) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Marriott systems, service standards, and brand operating procedures is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a diverse team in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests, associates, and ownership/management.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and labor management.
  • Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS) and related software.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the property for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally (e.g., luggage assistance, supplies).
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations as needed
