Job Description

Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel is seeking Part-time Room Supervisor!

Under the direction of the Hotel Manager, this position is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the hotel and the efficient operation of the front desk guest services, including rooms and public areas, exceeding guest expectations, maintaining inventory and costs controls and creating an environment fostered on training and development and health and safety for all guests and Team Members.

The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills and abilities, executing the following in support of the company’s vision, mission and values:

  • Managing Team Members to ensure they have superior guidance and resources to achieve objectives and ensures compliance with health and safety and other statutory regulations;
  • Monitoring staffing levels to ensure guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met;
  • Ensures all Team Members have proper supplies, equipment and uniforms;
  • Establish and maintain scheduling procedures as per business requirements and the collective bargaining agreement;
  • Ensures accurate and timely payroll reporting;
  • Supervises daily housekeeping shift operations and ensure compliance with all housekeeping and front desk guest services’ policies, standards and procedures;
  • Maintains effective labour relations and ensures adherence to the collective bargaining agreements;
  • Execute issuing of disciplinary action and evaluations to Team Members when necessary;
  • Performs regular hotel room inspections to ensure the consistent quality of room preparation and effectiveness of existing system;
  • Ongoing communication with Team Members with regards to occupancy levels and special events;
  • Monitors inventory levels for supplies;
  • Promotes positive guest interactions through prompt, courteous and efficient service, having knowledge of the hotel and services;
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments;
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders;
  • Ensures Team Members’ annual training is completed successfully;
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the Hotel; working directly with appropriate vendors; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary hospitality or hotel education or suitable combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising in housekeeping and/or guest services, preferably in the hotel sector;
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team within a unionized environment;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • WHMIS and additional certification as needed;
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Opera software an asset; and
  • Working knowledge of floor machines (and any other relevant equipment), and Biohazard Clean up experience is an asset.

Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overnights. The hours of work will be based on operational needs. Ready to embark on your next adventure?
