QUALIFICATIONS
•Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required
•Successful completion of a Certificate or Diploma in Sterile Supply/Medical Device Reprocessing through a recognized post-secondary educational institution
OR Valid CSAO certificate plus a minimum of 3 months of recent medical device reprocessing experience
•Operating Room Attendant Course preferred
•Demonstrated knowledge of infection control principles and medical aseptic techniques
•Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills
•Applicants must possess good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to follow oral and written instructions
•Applicants must be totally capable of performing all related duties (frequent standing, walking, lifting, maneuvering heavy loaded stretchers in close quarters, operation of specialized equipment)
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
•Applicants must have demonstrated ability to accept responsibilities, work with minimal supervision, show initiative, maintain good interpersonal relationships and be able to communicate effectively
•Good work performance and attendance record are essential

RESPONSIBILITIES
The main functions include: decontamination, setting up of endoscopes; test equipment before usage of instruments; transport and handling of sterile supplies; housekeeping duties; decontamination of Endoscopy suites; washing and re-stocking of supplies; handling of soiled carts and supplies, transport of specimens, blood and equipment; complete Endoscopy room set up; positioning of patients; and other duties as assigned.
