Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, a 4 star property with 273 rooms, meeting facilities and a stunning view from our Elements Restaurant. Conveniently placed in prime location in Queenstown, making it one of the most iconic tourist destination Hotels in the World!

We are seeking a reliable and detail-focused Room Attendant – Self Checker to join our housekeeping team. This role is responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest rooms and public areas to high hotel standards, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation requirements are consistently met.

  • Clean guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and storage areas as allocated

  • Ensure rooms are cleaned and presented to hotel standards prior to guest occupancy

  • Replenish guest amenities, supplies, and linen according to room type requirements

  • Carry out scheduled and routine cleaning duties as per hotel procedures

  • Handle guest laundry in accordance with hotel policies

  • Report lost property in line with hotel procedures

  • Use and maintain cleaning equipment safely and report any faults

  • Follow correct procedures for handling and storing cleaning chemicals

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of housekeeping equipment and storage areas

  • Assist with stock checks and housekeeping supplies when required

  • Ensure security of guest rooms, keys, and hotel property at all times

  • Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to the supervisor

  • Support other team members with cleaning duties when required

  • Ensure rooms are reported as clean and ready using hotel systems

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months + of experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or commercial cleaning roles (hotel experience preferred)

  • Ability to clean and maintain guest rooms, public areas, or commercial spaces to a professional standard

  • Basic understanding of cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and safe chemical handling

  • Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks within allocated timeframes

  • Good attention to detail and consistency in cleaning standards

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Basic communication skills to follow instructions and report issues

  • Physical ability to perform cleaning duties, including standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive tasks

  • Wages NZD 28.53 per hour
