Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for site investigations, data collection, and preparing reports based on your findings. You must be able to assist in the coordination of multiple projects involving various scopes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.

The Salary Range for this position is $62,200 - $77,400 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in monitoring the quality of work in progress on site to ensure compliance with tender documents as well as applicable standards and codes.
  • Complete various on-site tasks including measuring, drawing, exploratory cuts, identifying defects, photography, cleaning, etc.
  • Prepare roof and/or building envelope condition assessment reports.
  • Perform site assessments, inspections and tests as required to produce condition analysis reports.
  • Prepare observation reports from daily review in a detailed and timely manner.
  • Compile data and photos in a report; edit, assemble and photocopy reports as necessary.
  • Organize site meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Attend preliminary site meetings for calls for tenders and tending closing evaluation meetings.
  • Be familiar with national and local client base as well as proposal forms.
  • Coordinate all data entry for invoicing of time and cost of work.
  • Provide assistance to other technicians and technologists in the field.
  • Assist in the preparation of preliminary design as needed.
  • Assist with contract administration and client management as needed.
  • Other assigned duties and tasks, as required.

Required Experience, Education and Certifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in an applicable or related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the field of roofing and quality observation.
  • Preference to candidates with Registered Roof Observer (RRO) designation (not required).
  • In-depth knowledge of different roofing and construction systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements

Physical Demands – Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on sloped and flat roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. Working at heights, including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages, and mechanical lifts will be necessary. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports.

Overtime – There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position.

Travel – This position requires up to 80% local area travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
