
General Position Summary & Responsibilities
The Rolling Mill Maintenance Specialist is responsible for identifying and evaluating mechanical maintenance needs throughout the rolling mill and meltshop to ensure consistent operations, improve productivity, and reduce unplanned downtime. This role serves as a key technical resource, directing work and providing guidance to maintenance personnel while ensuring all tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with departmental policies and collective bargaining agreement provisions. The Specialist plays an active role in promoting and upholding a strong safety culture, ensuring all standards and regulations are consistently maintained across the maintenance area. This position works closely with senior management to communicate equipment status, operational priorities, and maintenance goals while collaborating across departments to achieve delay reduction targets. Given the critical nature of steel production, this role requires around-the-clock availability and a strong commitment to supporting continuous and reliable mill operations.

This position requires around-the-clock on-call availability and must be reachable by telephone at all times. This role requires the ability and willingness to report to the facility after hours when operational needs require.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Work is performed in a variety of settings including indoor, outdoor, and industrial manufacturing environments. This role requires the ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds and lift and carry up to 20 pounds. The individual in this role may be exposed to outdoor conditions such as snow, rain, and heat, as well as plant conditions including dust, noise, and temperature extremes. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided by the company.
