The Opportunity

We are looking for a Robotics Design Engineer to join our industrial automation team in Boston. You will analyze, design, and implement software automation solutions for complex industrial machinery, developing new systems where off-the-shelf solutions fall short. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of robotics, PLC programming, vision systems, and machine control.

What You'll Do

  • Develop software for PLC, motion control, HMI, and SCADA systems (primarily Siemens, Rockwell, and Codesys) for the automated control of complex machines.
  • Build software for robotic solutions, primarily on ABB, Fanuc, and Yaskawa platforms.
  • Develop and integrate vision systems with machines and robots.
  • Perform software testing on machines and support implementation, including identifying and applying technical modifications.
  • Collaborate on feasibility studies for new projects and provide technical training to internal and external clients.
  • Produce and maintain support documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

You Should Have

  • Proven experience in automation and robotics.
  • Degree in Engineering (Automation, Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or Electrical/Electronic) or equivalent.
  • Robot programming experience with FANUC, ABB, and/or Yaskawa.
  • PLC programming experience with Rockwell, Siemens, and/or Codesys.
  • Proficiency in C#, Python, C++, or Visual Basic scripting.
  • Knowledge of HMI programming, Motion Control, and SCADA software (e.g. Ignition).
  • Familiarity with robot mechanics including direct and inverse kinematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and data orientation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with simulation software and Digital Twin tools (Unity, Emulate3D).
  • Knowledge of ROS.
  • Familiarity with Design Patterns and UML.
  • Experience with DBMS and Web/Mobile applications (Ionic, Angular).
  • Project and customer management experience.
