PSJ fabrications, a Wood subsidiary company are recruiting for a Robotic Welding Programmer & Operator to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team based in Bedford.
The Role
The position requires an experienced Robot Welding Programmer to operate, develop and optimise our robotic welding systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking existing robotic welding programmes and putting components through production, while also adjusting and developing the process as required.
The role requires a hands-on welder who can confidently operate and programme robotic welding equipment, troubleshoot and refine existing programmes, and ensure components are produced to the required quality and specification.

PSJ Fabrications are a subsidiary of Wood specialising in the fabrication of sheet metals from simple brackets to bespoke enclosures and larger fabrication projects.
Our 23,000 sq. feet facility in Bedford is host to “cutting edge” machinery with capabilities including; Fibre Optic Laser cutting, Brake press forming and Micro bore Welding.
Accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and EN1090-1 we have the ability to perform bespoke manufacturing as well as high volume manufacturing.
We support clients across a range of different industries from commercial to highly regulated such as Nuclear and defence.

- Develop, create and maintain all Migatronic cobot welding programs in-house
- Program new products and modify existing welding programs to meet production requirements
- Set up, teach and optimize robot welding paths, parameters and sequences
- Conduct welding trials, first-offs for approval
- Troubleshoot programming, welding quality and equipment issues
- Work with engineering and production teams to improve productivity and reduce cycle times
- Design and improve fixtures, jigs and work holding solutions
- Ensure compliance with welding specifications, drawings and work instructions
- Complete quality checks and maintain production documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities
- Train operators on cobot welding processes and best practices
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
- When cobot workload allows, carry out manual MIG/TIG welding across a range of fabricated components

Expected:
- Proven experience with Migatronic robotic or cobot welding systems
- Strong MIG welding knowledge and practical welding skills
- Experience programming robotic welding applications
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols
- Understanding of welding parameters and weld quality requirements
- Knowledge of fixture design and manufacturing processes
- Problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
