Job Description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Roaming Engineer in India.

In this role, you will be responsible for enabling and validating international roaming connectivity across mobile networks, ensuring seamless global communication experiences for end users. You will take ownership of technical onboarding for roaming partners, from planning and IREG testing through to production launch and post-launch support. Working within a highly technical and collaborative telecom environment, you will interact with engineering, platform, and commercial teams to ensure roaming agreements are successfully translated into operational networks. The position involves deep engagement with GSMA standards, signaling protocols, and telecom interconnect systems, while also leveraging modern tools and automation approaches to improve efficiency. This is an opportunity to work on global-scale connectivity infrastructure and contribute to the evolution of next-generation telecom interoperability.

Accountabilities:

  • Execute end-to-end IREG testing for new roaming partners across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks, following GSMA IR.21 and related roaming standards.
  • Drive technical onboarding of roaming partners, including test planning, execution, troubleshooting, and final production readiness sign-off.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update IR.21 documentation and ensure accurate roaming configuration records across systems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot roaming signaling issues involving Diameter, MAP, CAP, and GTP protocols during testing and live operations.
  • Manage TAP and NRTRDE file validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution with roaming partners.
  • Collaborate with platform and software engineering teams to implement network configuration changes and resolve technical dependencies.
  • Support roaming incident management and escalations in production environments to ensure service continuity.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results, partner status, and roaming integration workflows.

    • Requirements:

    • 3+ years of experience in international roaming operations, IREG testing, or telecom interconnect roles within MNO, MVNO, or roaming hub environments.
    • Strong knowledge of GSMA roaming standards including IR.21, IR.34, IR.65, and IREG test specifications.
    • Hands-on experience with telecom signaling protocols such as Diameter (S6a, S6d, S13), MAP, CAP, and GTP-C/GTP-U.
    • Experience working with TAP (R13+) and NRTRDE file processing and reconciliation workflows.
    • Familiarity with roaming testing tools such as Wireshark and packet capture (PCAP) analysis.
    • Understanding of LTE and 5G roaming architectures, including S8, N32, and SEPP concepts.
    • Ability to manage multiple partner onboarding streams independently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external roaming partners.
    • Interest in leveraging AI tools and automation to enhance testing, analysis, and operational efficiency.
    • Exposure to VoLTE, eSIM, cloud-native telecom environments, or roaming hubs is an advantage.
