TxDOT's Dallas District is looking for a Roadway Maintenance Tech (General Transportation Tech) I, II, or III based in Kaufman or Rockwall, TX. This position performs routine work related to transportation activities such as construction inspection, routine and contract maintenance inspection, bridge inspection and record keeping, roadway maintenance and repair, light and heavy equipment operation, preventive and minor maintenance on equipment, traffic control, assisting the public during emergency situations, and training other employees.

Roadway Maintenance Tech I Performs routine (Learning) transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: construction, maintenance, and/or material and process inspection; roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Roadway Maintenance Tech II Performs moderately complex (Intermediate) transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: construction, contract maintenance, and material and process inspections roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment, traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Roadway Maintenance Tech III Performs highly complex (Advanced) transportation operations or maintenance support work such as construction, contract maintenance, and material and process inspection; roadway maintenance and repair; operates light and heavy equipment; preventative and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; helping the public during emergency situations; and training other employees. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Valid driver’s license at the time of application. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Must have a Commercial Class "A" Driver's License with an "N" Endorsement or have obtained a CDL "A” License, within 120 calendar days from date of employment.
