What We're Looking For: Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a motivated Roadway Engineering Associate to join our team in Nashville, TN. In this position, you will play a key role in delivering impactful infrastructure solutions that benefit the communities we serve, including engaging work on a variety of roadway design projects.You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of smaller projects while also contributing to larger, more complex initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers. If you're looking for a role where you can build your technical expertise, gain meaningful project experience, and make a difference in your community, this is the opportunity for you.Responsibilities:Assist in the design of a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and greenways, interchanges, intersections and roundaboutsCollaborate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to resolve issues and develop effective solutionsAssist in the analysis and preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and permits for projects.Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to prepare engineering and design documents/drawingsAccompany design team on site visits and client meetings as needed.Learn and apply TN Department of Transportation (TDOT) guidelines, policies, and proceduresEnsure tasks are completed promptly and meet quality expectations.
Education & Experience Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.Minimum of 1-2 years of roadway design experience.Engineer Intern (EI) / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification required.Experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) software preferred.Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly WORD and EXCEL.Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important.Working knowledge of utilizing AASHTO and MUTCD roadway design materials
