Transportation Engineer Spec IPerforms advanced and specialized drafting, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Transportation Engineer Spec IIPerforms advanced and specialized drafting, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques; trains and reviews the work of others. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Transportation Engineer Spec IIIPerforms advanced and specialized drafting, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques; trains and reviews the work of others; others. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer Spec IPerforms advanced and specialized design work.Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps.Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.Uses additional automated design tools or specialized design procedures in areas including bridge/culvert detailing, traffic management, geometric design, signal lighting design, retaining walls and building design.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:Transportation Engineer Spec IEducation: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.Experience: 6 years drafting, design, plan preparation. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsLicenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.Transportation Engineer Spec IIEducation: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.Experience: 7 years drafting, design, plan preparation. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsLicenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.Transportation Engineer Spec IIIEducation: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.Experience: 8 years drafting, design, plan preparation.
