The demands on the Timaru District’s critical road infrastructure is becoming increasingly challenging. With the increasing economic growth, safety focus, climate change and ageing assets, the programme of work is forecasted to grow significantly over the next 10 years.
We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our Land Transport Group as a Road Officer. You will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the districts road assets ensuring an effective, efficient and sustainable road transport network.
To start, you will be the person on the ground, inspecting our road assets such as, drainage facilities, street trees, signage, footpaths, and streetlights, and the one to identify and report any issues. Working with other groups, both internal and external, you will suggest and oversee the repairs. At the end, you will ensure that the repairs meet quality and safety standards, budgets, and deadlines.

We are seeking to recruit two permanent Road Officers: one for 30 hours per week and the other for 40 hours per week.
