Superior communication skills encompassing writing, speaking, and presentation

Proficient in CFR 236 Subpart I (PTC) regulations, CFR Part 240 regulations, Amtrak’s Airbrake and Train Handling Instruction, Operating Rules, and Safety Rules

Work Environment
Spends approximately 25% of work time in an office setting, utilizing a computer, keyboard, monitor, and mouse to complete various administrative and operational tasks.
Spends approximately 75% of work time in an outdoor railroad operating environment, which includes walking on uneven surfaces and performing physical activities such as reaching, bending, and stretching to board and detrain equipment.
Regularly works extended hours as operational needs require, including being on-call and available to respond to emergencies. Is considered on duty at all times and must remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.
Frequently operates in high-pressure or crisis situations, requiring timely decision-making based on limited or incomplete information.
Frequently works outdoors and is exposed to varying and adverse weather conditions.
Regularly resolves complex problems involving competing priorities in cognitively demanding situations.

The salary for a Road Foreman I is $127,000 and the salary for a Road Foreman II is $137,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
