Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined RNG Operations & Fabrication Technician to support daily shop, warehouse, and field operations. This is a working, non-supervisory role centered on building things and moving things: fabrication and assembly, carpentry and light construction, operating equipment such as forklifts and skid steers, and hauling materials, parts, and equipment to sites and projects with a pickup and trailer.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership of a task without being managed through it, works safely, and is comfortable shifting priorities on short notice. This position supports multiple teams — Operations, Field Service, Construction, and Procurement — so no two days look the same. Someone who says, “I’ll figure it out” and then does will thrive here.

Primary Responsibilities

Fabrication, Assembly & Carpentry

  • Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair shipping containers, trailers, frames, enclosures, other components from drawings, sketches, photos, or verbal direction.
  • Perform carpentry and light construction work including framing, door installation, and project related build-outs.
  • Assemble equipment, piping supports, and hardware kits, mount and secure components for shipment or installation.
  • Use hand and power tools, saws, grinders, drills, and measuring/layout tools accurately and safely.
  • Perform basic cutting, drilling, and metal work; welding experience is a plus.

Equipment Operation & Material Handling

  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, skid steers, telehandlers, and other material handling equipment.
  • Load, unload, stage, and secure materials, equipment, and parts in the yard, warehouse, and at job sites.
  • Perform daily pre-use inspections on equipment and report damage, deficiencies, or maintenance needs.
  • Assist with basic upkeep of shop equipment, tools, vehicles, and trailers.

Transportation & Site Support

  • Operate company pickup trucks, including towing enclosed and open trailers, to deliver parts, tools, materials, and equipment to sites and projects.
  • Hook up, load, secure, and inspect trailers and loads; ensure proper weight distribution, tie-down, and documentation.
  • Make time-sensitive parts runs to vendors, suppliers, sites, and active projects as needed.

Warehouse & Inventory Support

  • Support daily warehouse activity including receiving, stocking, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Pull and stage materials and parts against project or work order lists.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop, warehouse, and yard.

Project & General Support

Flexibility is a core function of this role, not an exception to it. Responsibilities regularly extend beyond the tasks listed above, including but not limited to:

  • Walking upcoming projects and building material take-offs and lists of parts, hardware, and consumables needed.
  • Sourcing or picking up materials locally and providing pricing or availability information back to the team.
  • Assisting field and service technicians with installation, demolition, clean-up, and site prep work.
  • Documenting work with photos, measurements, and notes for other teams.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to keep sites, projects, and the shop moving.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools, materials, and building things from scratch.
  • Ability to read and work from basic drawings, sketches, cut lists, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Accurate measurement, layout, and math skills (fractions, dimensions, take-offs).
  • Safe operation of powered industrial trucks and compact construction equipment.
  • Confident towing and maneuvering a trailer behind a pickup truck, including backing and load securement.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Dependability, ownership, and a willingness to take on unfamiliar tasks and see them through.
  • Clear communication with coworkers, vendors, and site personnel; basic computer and mobile device skills for inventory, email, and documentation.
  • Ability to shift priorities quickly in a fast-paced environment without losing track of open work.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in fabrication, carpentry, construction, assembly, maintenance, warehouse, or a related trade.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Experience driving a pickup truck with a trailer is strongly desired.
  • Forklift and/or skid steer experience required; certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain.
  • Welding, plumbing, electrical, or equipment maintenance experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work with hands overhead for extended periods.
  • Work is performed in a shop, warehouse, yard, and outdoor job site settings, with exposure to varying weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain.
  • Consistent use of required personal protective equipment.
  • Local travel between sites and vendors; occasional early starts, extended hours, or after-hours support based on project needs.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis. Unfortunately, a current or future need for sponsorship is not supported or available for this position.

Salary Range:

$55,500.00 - $88,800.00

*This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included.

This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance.
