Shift: Day Shift – Variable Hours | Full-Time – 40 Hours

At Logan Health, our Operating Room nurses are essential partners in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care. As an RN Surgical Services, you’ll play a critical role in patient advocacy, surgical coordination, and team-based care – supporting patients through some of their most vulnerable moments while collaborating with skilled surgeons, anesthesia providers, and fellow perioperative professionals.

What You’ll Do

As an RN Surgical Services, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process

  • Maintain high standards of patient safety and infection control in accordance with policy and procedure

  • Accurately transcribe and implement verbal and written provider orders

  • Monitor, assess, and report changes in patients’ physical and mental condition

  • Anticipate patient needs and coordinate timely interventions during surgical procedures

  • Document all patient encounters clearly and thoroughly in accordance with organizational standards

  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding surgical care and recovery

  • Remain calm and effective during changing workloads, prioritizing care and seeking assistance when appropriate

  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance as scheduled by department leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Current Montana RN license or multi-state compact license with authorization to practice in Montana

  • 1+ year(s) of RN experience in a similar medical setting (hospital, clinic, or physician office)

  • Healthcare Provider CPR and/or BLS certification, as required by service line

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Professional nursing theory and standards of practice

    • Medical terminology

    • Infection control procedures and universal precautions

    • HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations

    • OSHA rules and regulations

  • Excellent organizational, critical thinking, and prioritization skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism and diplomacy

  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN degree

  • 2+ years of RN experience in a similar medical setting (hospital, clinic, or physician office)

  • Prior experience in the Operating Room or surgical services

  • Additional certifications relevant to perioperative nursing or assigned specialty area

Qualifications:

  • Current Montana RN License or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required.

  • BSN degree preferred.

  • RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first.

  • ALS(ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer

  • PALS must be obtained within six (6) months of hire/transfer

Surgical Services:

  • ALS(ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer

  • PALS must be obtained within six (6) months of hire/transfer

Surgical Services Pre-Anesthesia Testing

  • AHA BLS required

Job Specific Duties:

  • Applies the clinical discipline of professional nursing through the nursing process.

  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.

  • Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.

  • Sets priorities for nursing care based on the care plan and delivers care in a timely manner.

  • Completes discharge summary and instructions appropriately to ensure continuity of post- hospitalized care.

  • Precepts and Mentors new staff/students.

  • Performs technical tasks and procedures safely and accurately.

  • Completes patient hand-off in accordance with facility standards

  • Follows all National and facility standards for safe medication administration and security using resources available and critical thinking skills.

  • Completes appropriate documentation per protocol and procedures.

  • Conducts chart audits to facilitate quality improvement.

  • Participates in patient teaching appropriate to clinical area.

  • Conveys appropriate information to the Discharge Planner or Patient Care coordinator.

  • Submits appropriate work orders for malfunctioning equipment. Tags and pulls malfunctioning equipment out of service.

  • Respects patient's rights to privacy and dignity.

  • Maintains patient rooms in a clean and comfortable environment appropriate to the needs of the patient.

  • Observes all aspects of HIPPA in protecting patient information and reports concerns for breeches.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
