RN Surgery
Operating Room Nurses are responsible for performing at a competent level nursing practice and according to the standards of practice for the area. Performs patient care and service through a multidisciplinary team approach. Functions to maintain an environment of caring and concern for patients and staff members according to principles of patient focused care and customer service.

Responsibilities
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management., Administers medications and treatments according to protocol. Clarifies and reviews physician’s orders and takes appropriate action., Assists in draping of sterile field, cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization., Assists the physician and CRNA., Assists with clean up of OR suite in readiness for next case., Assumes accountability for verification of operative procedure being performed, identification of specimens, completion of sponge, sharp and instrument counts and assurance of sterile integrity according to the role assigned., Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or the situation. Recognizes normal and abnormal findings when gathering data. Makes perioperative patient assessments and develops patient plan of care per surgeon preference., Documents completely and thoroughly. Assures that documentation reflects changes in patient condition and notification to appropriate individual has occurred., Performs appropriate assessments, including appropriate and timely documentation., Performs circulating and scrub duties as assigned., Provides appropriate instruction to patients and family with appropriate documentation., Responds to patient's indicators for assistance promptly and courteously and follows through to meet patient's needs., Sets up room for surgical procedure.
