Your Everyday

Ensure smooth daily operations of your department/unit.

Maintain standards of team accountability and delivery of care services by following hospital/nursing policies, infection control/safety/environmental policies, procedures and standards.

Round patient care units to ascertain patients’ conditions.

Coordinate and evaluate services rendered by and to all departments during the respective shift.

Inform leadership regarding circumstances or situations which have or may have serious impact.

Assess and intervene as needed for physiologic, psychosocial educational and developmental needs of patients and families.

Serve as a main resource person on all nursing units for the hospital and provide administrative nursing leadership.

Administer nurse staffing, schedules, utilization, and follow-up appropriate for patient census, acuity level, and special conditions.

Evaluate and document employees’ performance and communicate information to the appropriate department managers.

Ensure professional development, participate in planning and in-service education programs or other meetings, seminars, or institutes both internally and externally.

Maintain communication between other nursing and ancillary departments.

Evaluate staffing needs and provide support to caregivers ensuring proper staffing matrix, unit-specific needs and employee experience/expertise.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. 

Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Previous experience as a charge nurse, clinical supervisor or nurse manager
