Why Us? Why Now?

Make a meaningful impact by guiding patients through their surgical journey in a role that combines autonomy, collaboration, and growth opportunities. Join a team that values communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

About the Role

As a Preadmissions RN, you’ll play a vital role in preparing patients for surgeries and procedures. This position focuses on patient education and coordination rather than hands-on care, making it ideal for nurses who excel in organization and interpersonal communication.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct phone calls and in-person visits to review pre-op instructions, verify medications, and ensure chart accuracy.
  • Collaborate with providers (MDs and APCs) for complex cases.
  • Prepare charts prior to visits and provide nurse-only patient education.
  • May cross-train to do periprocedural anticoagulation work
  • Work closely with multiple departments, including OR, surgery clinics, anticoagulation, pharmacy, and social work.
  • Participate in department-based projects and cross-training opportunities (e.g., perioperative anticoagulation management).
  • This position is based with La Crosse, with option to work occasionally out of the Onalaska SSB building. Potential for occasional travel to Winona in the future.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum)
  • Active RN license in Wisconsin; Minnesota RN license may be required at a later date
  • Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider CPR

Preferred:

  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience, preferably in surgical, perioperative, or med/surg areas
  • Ability to work across multiple specialties and navigate complex organizational structures
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to manage workload and delegate effectively
  • Adaptability and situational awareness to meet patient needs both in-person and over the phone
  • Proactive, collaborative attitude

Why Join Us?

  • Work with a large, diverse team and build strong professional networks
  • Enjoy autonomy in your day-to-day work while contributing to collaborative projects
  • Flexible weekday schedule with no weekends or holidays
  • Opportunities for growth, including cross-training
