Elderwood Administrative Services is seeking an experienced Regional Nurse Consultant (RNC) to support clinical operations and nursing leadership across a portfolio of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities.

This is a highly visible, field-based leadership role for an accomplished Registered Nurse who understands that sustainable clinical performance is built through consistent facility presence, strong Director of Nursing partnerships, clear standards and practical support.

As a Regional Nurse Consultant, you will work closely with facility Directors of Nursing, Administrators, nursing leaders, regional operations and Elderwood’s Chief Nursing Officer to strengthen clinical practice, regulatory readiness, employee development and resident outcomes.

The role is well suited to a former Director of Nursing or regional clinical leader who can assess what a facility needs, establish priorities and help local leaders turn expectations into consistent daily practice.

Regional Scope and Travel Expectations

This is a regional field position requiring regular in-person presence at assigned Elderwood facilities. It is not a remote clinical-consulting role.

Western New York contains the largest concentration of supported facilities; however, the Regional Nurse Consultant must also be willing and able to travel to facilities in Central New York and the Adirondack region based on operational and clinical needs.

Typical travel expectations include:

• Regular daytime travel among assigned skilled nursing facilities
• In-person facility presence several days during a typical workweek
• Scheduled travel to Central New York and Adirondack facilities, as needed
• Periodic overnight travel when distance, scheduling or facility needs require it
• Flexibility to adjust planned travel in response to surveys, leadership transitions, significant clinical events or urgent facility priorities
• Additional facility presence during periods requiring focused clinical support

The successful candidate should be comfortable spending meaningful time inside facilities, working directly with nursing leaders and frontline teams.

This position requires more than identifying gaps or issuing recommendations.

Our Regional Nurse Consultants build credibility by being present, understanding facility realities and working alongside local leaders to solve problems. The strongest candidate will know when to coach, when to challenge, when to escalate and when a facility needs hands-on support to move an initiative forward.

Responsibilities

Your Leadership Impact - As a Regional Nurse Consultant, you will:

• Provide clinical guidance and oversight to an assigned portfolio of skilled nursing facilities.
• Partner with Directors of Nursing and Administrators to evaluate clinical priorities and strengthen nursing operations.
• Coach and mentor DONs, ADONs and other nursing leaders through complex clinical, regulatory and employee-related challenges.
• Support the onboarding and development of newly hired or promoted Directors of Nursing.
• Help facilities maintain ongoing survey readiness and respond effectively to regulatory findings.
• Participate in clinical reviews, audits and facility assessments to identify risks, patterns and opportunities for improvement.
• Review quality indicators, clinical outcomes and operational practices with facility leadership.
• Help leaders develop and execute practical corrective-action and performance-improvement plans.
• Promote consistent clinical standards, documentation practices and accountability across facilities.
• Support priorities related to staffing, resident safety, quality, infection prevention and regulatory compliance.
• Provide added clinical leadership during transitions, vacancies or periods of elevated facility need.
• Facilitate communication and alignment between facility teams, regional operations and corporate clinical leadership.
• Share effective practices across the portfolio and help facilities learn from one another.

Qualifications

RN - Regional RN Consultant (RNC):

Required Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in New York State
• Prior Director of Nursing experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care environment
• Strong working knowledge of skilled nursing clinical operations and applicable regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated ability to mentor nursing leaders and influence performance across teams
• Experience supporting survey readiness, regulatory compliance and quality-improvement initiatives
• Ability to evaluate clinical performance, identify priorities and guide corrective action
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Western New York, Central New York and the Adirondack region
• Availability for periodic overnight travel and schedule adjustments based on facility needs
• This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Preferred Experience

• Previous regional, multi-site or consulting experience within skilled nursing
• Experience onboarding, developing or providing transitional support to Directors of Nursing
• Experience supporting facilities through surveys, plans of correction or focused quality-improvement work
• Demonstrated success strengthening clinical systems, nursing leadership and resident outcomes
