TheTelemetry/Neurology Unitat Tradition Hospitalspecializes inthe monitoring ofvarious neurological conditions and diagnoses.Many of these patients are post-stroke patients who have been downgraded from the PCU or ICU.As an RNon thisteam,you willassistfellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, frominitialintroduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients,families,and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources,including furtheringeducation and online/in-person courses to enhanceyourskills.
A caregiver in this position worksnightsfrom 7:00PM – 7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate,updateand revise patient care plans
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions
Administerprescribed medications and treatmentsin accordance withapproved nursing protocol.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families, considering cultural issues and other special concerns
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursingstudy
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accreditedSchool of Professional Nursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
One year of current acute care RN experienceORlicensed military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sofScience inNursing (BSN)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross – if you do not hold this certification, you will need to obtain it within one year of hire
NIH Stroke Scale Certification – if you do not hold this certification, you will need to obtain it within30 daysof hire
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
