Job Description

Join our growing team at a busy 6-operating room Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care in a patient-centered environment. Our facility performs a wide range of outpatient procedures across multiple specialties, including orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, hand and foot surgery, ENT, neurosurgery, pain management, and other surgical services.

As an OR Circulator RN, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing patient care throughout the intraoperative phase of surgery. You will serve as the patient's advocate in the operating room, ensuring a safe surgical environment while collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care during the intraoperative period.
  • Ensure patient safety through adherence to established policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
  • Perform and document pre-procedure verification, surgical site verification, and time-out processes.
  • Coordinate room setup and ensure all necessary equipment, instruments, implants, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
  • Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Monitor aseptic technique and sterile field integrity throughout surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team to promote efficient case flow.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, anesthesia providers, and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of safety and excellence.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in good standing.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  • Previous operating room circulating experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in multiple surgical specialties is preferred.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week.
  • Monday through Friday schedule.
  • First cases begin between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM.
  • No weekends, no call requirements (if applicable).
  • Closed on major holidays.
  • Collaborative team environment with opportunities to support a variety of surgical specialties.
