The RN Nurse Trainer plays a vital role in supporting the medical, health, and safety needs of clients living in host family settings. This role includes direct training of staff, oversight of medication practices, and being a clinical resource for non-licensed caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and authorize staff and non-licensed caregivers in medication administration and safety.
  • Monitor and document client-specific medical needs, including bubble packs, orders, and MARs.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure proper medication handling and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide clinical guidance and respond to medical questions via phone/email as needed.
  • Serve as a support system to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have current unencumbered Illinois professional nurse license.
  • CPR Certification (Required)
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle (Required)
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year working with individuals with developmental disabilities (Preferred)
  • Must be able to obtain a DHS Nurse Trainer Certificate within 90 days of hire
  • RN license number
  • If Licensed Practical Nurse must also be a Registered Professional Nurse.
