JOB SUMMARY:

The RN Resident will complete fourteen (13) weeks of residency training, during which employee will be assigned to a designated unit. Training under the program will include the following nursing and hospital orientations and educational elements:

Weeks 1- 3: Basic Nursing Orientation, EPIC computer orientation, Basic ECG, Soft ID Specimen Collection, Form Fast and Self-scheduling training, and unit orientation.

Weeks 4-9: Continued orientation to unit standards, procedures, protocols and nursing policy with Preceptor oversight. A gradual increase of patient load assignments during the twelve (12) hour shifts

Weeks 11-10: Continued orientation to unit standards, procedures, protocols and nursing policy with support from Preceptor. A gradual increase of patient load assignments during twelve (12) hour shifts.

Weeks 12 – 14: Full patient assignments with support from Preceptor, validation of completion of all Program expectations by the end of Week 14, and Preceptor evaluation of RN Resident.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Candidates must have temporary or permanent R.N. licensure
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • Have no more than 12 months of experience in an acute hospital setting as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must commit to full-time employment during the entire duration of program schedule.
  • Able to work 12 hour shifts rotating nights, days, weekends and/or holidays

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Physical Effort required:

Constant (67%-100%) - seeing

Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing

Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching
