In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions. HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees
We're offering a $4,000 sign-on bonus for experienced and compassionate Mental Health Registered Nurses to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at the Darwin Immigration Detention Centre.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to individuals in detention. Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will support improved health outcomes through evidence-based, person-centred and culturally responsive care.
You will play a key role in coordinating timely access to appropriate health services, including medical, nursing, drug and alcohol, and allied health supports, while ensuring care is delivered with dignity, respect, and an understanding of individual values, beliefs, and cultural needs.
Work Days & Hours: Monday to Sunday - No night shifts!

How You’ll Make an Impact!
Let’s talk about you!
You’ll have current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and either a postgraduate Mental Health qualification (AQF Level 8+) with 5 years’ specialist mental health experience, or 7 years’ specialist mental health nursing experience without a postgraduate qualification. You’ll have experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention and therapeutic care, with strong clinical reasoning, communication and computer skills, including electronic medical records. Experience in correctional health, forensic mental health, AOD or other high-acuity settings is highly regarded.
