Tier 1: 2+ years of RN experience in an acute care setting required: plus medical/surgical experience required within past five years
Tier 2: Minimum of one year RN experience in an acute care setting required; plus medical/surgical experience preferred
Tier 3: Up to one year RN experience or new grad
0.75 FTE (60 hours per two-week pay period)
12-hour permanent night shifts
Every 3rd weekend rotation
GI/GU Medical-Surgical Unit | Mercy Hospital
Join a fast-paced, collaborative medical-surgical team specializing in the care of adult patients with gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) medical and surgical conditions. Our nurses care for a diverse patient population that includes individuals recovering from gastrointestinal and urologic surgeries, patients with complex medical diagnoses, bowel and bladder disorders, infections, ostomies, renal conditions, and other acute medical-surgical needs.
Our unit is an excellent environment for nurses who enjoy:
Caring for a wide variety of patient diagnoses and acuity levels
Developing strong assessment and clinical judgment skills
Managing complex care needs, including drains, ostomies, wound care, and post-operative recovery
Working closely with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, care managers, pharmacists, and ancillary staff
Building strong relationships with patients and families throughout their hospitalization
Focus on patient mobility, fall prevention, patient education, and safe transitions of care
Opportunities to participate in quality improvement initiatives, shared governance, and professional development
Supportive leadership that values teamwork, communication, and continuous learning
Nursing is the assessment and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs.
Practices primarily on hospital units and care for patients that are acutely ill across a wide variety of medical issues and support recovery from surgery.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $44.64 to $74.33 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
