
Position Title: RN MDS Coordinator
Location: Rockville, MD 20850
Compensation: $84k -110k
Schedule: Full-Time
Setting: Senior Living Community / Skilled Nursing
Facility Overview
A senior living community is seeking an experienced RN MDS Coordinator to support resident assessment, care planning, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement processes within a long-term care setting.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Complete and transmit accurate MDS assessments and supporting clinical documentation.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized resident care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
• Schedule and lead interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
• Audit medical records to ensure documentation supports MDS coding and reimbursement requirements.
• Collaborate with physicians, health plans, and care teams to support insurance approvals and coverage eligibility.
• Serve as a resource regarding SNF prospective payment systems, quality reporting programs, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor MDS-based quality measures and maintain compliance with CMS guidelines.
• Participate in utilization review, triple-check, QAPI, and other quality improvement activities.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and resident care activities as needed.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One (1) to three (3) years of long-term care MDS coordination and care planning experience required.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• BLS Certification required.
• Must obtain Resident Assessment Coordinator certification within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, MDS processes, and reimbursement systems.
• Strong communication, customer service, interpersonal, and computer skills.
