The Manager of the Palliative Care Program is responsible for the direction, leadership and oversight management for the Palliative Care Department. This position is designed to facilitate an effective process of the Mercy Care Model supporting quality patient care, patient safety and financial components; promoting integration of a seamless care model, optimizing performance and adoption of best practice.

Manages, monitors and coordinates the inpatient Palliative Care Program in conjunction with the Medical Director of Palliative Care, to ensure an organized multidisciplinary team approach to quality care and identification of palliative care patients. Achieves quality patient focused care by: establishing program goals and outcome metrics aligning with Mercy’s strategic direction.

Responsible for management and oversight of Palliative Care Coordinator team.

Position Details:

Manager-Palliative Care

Full- Time, Nights (40/hr weekly)

Required Education:

  • Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in nursing.

Required Experience:

  • 3 years of Palliative Care experience.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.

Licensure:

  • Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications:

  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) or obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
