Hours: 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., every 3rd weekend, every other Holiday

Our Labor and Delivery unit is designed to provide comprehensive, family‑centered maternity care in a safe, welcoming, and highly coordinated environment. The unit features five dedicated labor and delivery rooms that support personalized, attentive care throughout the birthing experience. Following delivery, patients transition to one of our fourteen comfortable postpartum and antepartum rooms, creating a calm and supportive setting for recovery and bonding.


An integrated obstetric operating suite is located within the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring rapid access for cesarean births and urgent interventions while keeping mothers and babies close to the care teams they know. Our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides advanced, specialized support for newborns who need additional monitoring or intermediate‑level care, allowing families to remain together within the same unit. Together, these features reflect our commitment to safety, compassion, and high‑quality maternal and newborn care.

This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards. NICU Nurse is specifically responsible for the care of the well and ill newborn who may require neonatal intensive care services. Birth Center and Pediatrics are considered "sister" units and staff are expected to float between these units.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa or recent RN graduate

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Experience Previous experience in well or ill newborn, and/or obstetric care and/or acute care preferred.

Special Skills and Competencies:

Preferred certification in low risk neonatal nursing care / professional certification in related to clinical specialty (from the Magnet approved certifications)

Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.

Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision.
