The Inpatient Cardiac Educator Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who provides education to patients and their families focused on cardiac diagnosis, medical treatment, and environmental factors to optimize patients’ outcomes and quality of life in accordance with the standards, policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center. The Inpatient Cardiac Educator RN collaborates with the individual, family, physician, interdisciplinary team and payor to plan, organize, coordinate and monitor the provision of quality, efficacious healthcare services and resources to promote optimal clinical, financial and satisfaction outcomes. The Inpatient Cardiac Educator works closely with the CV Liaison and performs the functions of that role as needed. The education, training, and support supplied by the Inpatient Cardiac Educator RN is designed to provide patients with the knowledge and skills required to recover and manage their condition to prevent complications and improve their health.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum

  • One-year acute care experience in an accredited acute care facility with cardiovascular emphasis

Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or related field
  • Cardiac Rehab, Critical Care leadership or management experience
  • Experience in a Cardiovascular Liaison role

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, and good communication skills. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and public. Must show sensitivity for the hospitalized patient and family. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
