Work Schedule:

100% FTE, 8 hour day/evening shifts, Monday – Friday with varied start times between 6:00am – 9:30am. No weekends or holidays. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will be working at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:

  • Provide care to a variety of pediatric patients in an outpatient setting requiring day treatment therapies.
  • Administer infusions to pediatric patients for a wide variety of conditions including, cancer, hematologic conditions, Crohn’s disease, juvenile arthritis, genetic disorders, transplant and research.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care including phase I and phase II recovery following radiologic interventions/treatments.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including, proceduralists, specialty providers, APPs child life, scheduling, and radiology
  • Set priorities adapting to changing patient and unit/clinic situations.
  • Work in two of three care areas: day treatment therapies (e.g. infusions, transfusions), sedation for procedures as well as pre-post anesthesia care.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
Work Experience
  • 6 months of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • Additional years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
  • Prior involvement in clinical procedures in area of specialty, including successful work or involvement in other hospital-wide project work Preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical setting Preferred
  • 1 year Specific to Diagnostic & Therapy Center – previous experience in chemo, sedation and/or anesthesia recovery Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing regulations Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support/CPR Upon Hire Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months Preferred
  • Certification in area of specialty
  • Chemotherapy certification Preferred
