The University of Alabama at BirminghamGeneral Responsibilities:

This position will be assigned to the Student Health Center. Under general supervision, direct patient care activities are provided to the highest licensure degree. Partners with clinical staff and providers to maintain established standards and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. Health Informatics, Medical Records, and others to ensure patient documentation is complete, accurate, and follows all privacy/security and other regulatory requirements. Review physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization before implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct or assisted care.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical professional
• Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills
• Excellent communication, customer service, and telephone etiquette skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
• Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions
• Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient-centered, high-quality, customer-friendly service
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and follow FERPA/HIPAA regulations at all times
• Punctual and reliable. Skills include RX refills, assisting in minor procedures, in-person and telephone triage, IVs, and injections
• Performs other duties as assigned.Hourly Pay Range: $24.00 – $29.00

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Associate's degree in Nursing required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.Preferred:

• 1-2 years’ experience is required.Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment required.
