Cancer and blood disorders are challenging conditions that require experts who devote themselves to researching and treating these diseases with diligence and compassion. Weston Hospital’s caregivers treat even the most complex cancerous and noncancerous (benign) disorders with advanced treatments and exceptional care. As a Registered Nurse in the Chemotherapy Infusion Suite, you will administer chemotherapyto cancer patients.You will be an integral part of the infusion therapy team, working closely with several key members of our department, including the Nurse Manager Cancer Center, infusion nurses, chemo infusion schedulers, as well as the oncology and hematology physicians and APP's.Here, you will improvethepatient experience as well as provide support from start to finish.This position can leadintoother nursing leadership and education positions as you advance your skills and experience.

APRNcaregiver in this position worksvaryingdays from900AM – 7:30PM, with some weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

  • Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing(Diploma,ADNor BSNprogram)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

  • Oneyear of current acute care RN experience. Will consider licensed military RN experience

  • Completion of ONS chemo/bio course within two years of employmenton units where chemo is administered

  • Any registered nurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancer specific certification ordemonstrateongoing qualifying education within thetimeframeof the facilities accreditation cycle, if they work in medical oncology, radiationoncology, cancercenteror cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited Cleveland Clinic facility

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor ofScience inNursing (BSN)

  • Advanced knowledge of chemotherapy medications and protocols

  • Prior infusion therapy experience

  • Interest in working in Oncology

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent walking from department to department; requires sitting at a workstation or desk; requires standing; work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs., such as files, documents and computer printouts.
  • Work requires finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department directors, physicians and other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem-solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
