*This is a Friday- Sunday position. Shift: 0630-1900
The Charge Nurse is a licensed professional who contributes their services to providing unit specific management leadership in the areas of first-point-of-contact supervision, direct patient care, patient and staff education, emotional support and education of families and the community in accordance with the mission and philosophy, standards policies, and practices of Enloe Health. The Charge Nurse collaborates with the physician and interprets the medical plan to staff members. They direct performance and supervise assigned staff members and assist the next level of management in directing care of the patient and support of the family.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
One year experience in a Perioperative environment OR one year RN-Charge experience
Desired
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
Two years or more Critical Care experience
Perioperative charge nurse or relief charge nurse experience
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
Current CPR
Current ACLS
PALS within 1 year of employment
Desired
Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and the public. Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused. Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs, unit based QI task forces and actively participates in preceptor programs. Must have the ability to perform as a preceptor in the training of students and new employees, and the ability to act as a department resource and a positive role model. Must be able to perform proficiently at intermediate and advanced levels, and must meet competency requirements. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
