The RN Caregiver Safety Consultant initiates activities and initiatives related to mitigation, preparation, response and recovery, in the event of any operational or caregiver safety related incident. Additionally, serves as a resource for performance improvement activities to the INTEGRIS Health facilities. This role involves evaluating risk factors, providing training and offering recommendations to improve safety to our caregivers in their work environments.

The RN Caregiver Safety Consultant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performs the investigation, review, analysis and disposition of caregiver safety events though the event review structure.
  • Patient records may be reviewed for caregiver safety improvement projects, which may include but not be limited to audits, performance improvement, and work group initiatives.
  • Facilitates cause analysis of actual or near miss events throughout the organization.
  • Aggregates and analyzes data for preparation of regular reports; identifies opportunities to improve patient safety; identifies trends and patterns related to near miss and actual events.
  • Responsible for maintaining a variety of computer databases to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of caregiver safety initiatives.
  • Develops and provides education to caregivers, providers, leaders, and other key stakeholders to support the culture of safety.
  • Conducts safety rounds to ensure compliance and to enhance Caregiver Safety improvement.
  • Identifies trends and conducts gap analysis between current and desired outcomes and performance.
  • Responds to caregiver safety needs at all INTEGRIS Health facilities, as needed or assigned.
  • Participates in organizational activities as a facilitator as requested.
  • Supports the medical staff and assigned department to effectively measure, assess, and improve the safety of caregivers
  • Reports to the assigned Manager or Director

  • This position is subject to being called upon, at any time, for response to disaster calls at any facility within the INTEGRIS Health, which may or may not include potential exposures to chemical, biological, and/or radiological agents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years recent experience in healthcare setting

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • RN (Registered Nurse) Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Oklahoma or current multistate license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) member state
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office including power point, excel, publisher and database software such as access
  • Excellent communication, oral presentation, and professional writing skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of professional development, process improvement, consultation, or leadership experience
  • Experience in patient safety, risk management, quality improvement, in a healthcare setting strongly preferred

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Engineering, Quality Management, Business Management, or Healthcare related field OR Associate’s degree in above-described areas plus an additional 2 years of full-time experience in healthcare operations
