J63 is a 24-bed cardiovascular telemetry unit specializing in the care of patients recovering from complex cardiac and vascular procedures, including open-heart surgery, coronary artery bypass surgery, minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery, valve replacement or repair, ventricular assist device (VAD) placement, and other advanced procedures. This fast-paced environment provides nurses with opportunities to strengthen their cardiovascular expertise while caring for patients with complex conditions and utilizing advanced clinical judgment and evidence-based practices to support recovery and optimize outcomes.
Nurses on J63 provide comprehensive, individualized care while closely monitoring patients throughout their recovery. Working alongside multidisciplinary and specialized care teams, nurses contribute to innovative cardiovascular care, patient education, and discharge planning tailored to each patient’s unique needs. The unit fosters professional growth and development while offering opportunities to participate in education, training, and community initiatives focused on cardiovascular health.
A PRN caregiver in this position works varying shifts, from 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am. Weekend and holiday rotation.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)OR the American Red Cross
External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
Will consider military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
