The Units (J71, J72, and J73) are fast-paced, telemetry-monitored units with a total of 73 beds, providing specialized care to a diverse cardiovascular patient population. These units care for patients with conditions such as myocardial infarction, post-cardiac interventions, chronic heart failure, dysrhythmias, and pulmonary hypertension. Patients range in acuity and may include both ambulatory and higher-acuity individuals requiring close monitoring. Caregivers work in a highly collaborative and supportive team environment known foritsstrong teamwork and welcoming culture.


J7-1 Cardiac Stepdown is a 25-bed unit (J7-3 is a 24-bed unit), and caregivers may float between units after orientation. On night shifts, staffing typically includes six RNs and two PCNAs, with nurses supporting one another in patient care. Patients canpresent witha wide range of acuity levels—from bedridden to ambulatory—and may not always appear overtly ill despite having complex cardiac conditions. The patient population is diverse, with individuals coming from across the United States.


A PRN caregiver in this position worksfull-time| day/night rotation| 700am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement andmonitorpatient care plans.

  • Monitor,recordand communicate patients’ conditions.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (must be presented upon hire)

  • *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) throughAmerican Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Certification (must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment)

  • External applicantsmust have two yearsrecent related nursing experience

  • Internal applicantswith less than two years of experience but post orientation /90-dayprobationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval

  • Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessmentsrequired

  • Will consider licensed military RN experience


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’sof Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
