As an RN in the Cardiac Cath Lab, you will provide care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterizations, aninvasive imaging procedure that evaluates heart functionIn this role, you will interact directly with patients,familiesand visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

A caregiver in this position worksdays from7:00AM– 5:00PM

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures in theCardiacInvasive Lab.

  • Assess,prepareand position patients for procedures.

  • Performconscioussedation and hemodynamic monitoring.

  • Prepare,implementand document plans of care.

  • Communicate patients’ condition to physicians before, during and after procedures.

  • Assistwith and/orfacilitatediagnostic,therapeuticand interventional procedures.

  • Set up andprovideequipment and supplies before, during and after procedures.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accreditedSchool ofProfessionalNursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Two years of recent critical care nursing experience

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or ALS through the American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’sofScience inNursing (BSN)

  • Electrophysiology and/orCathlab experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
