As an RN in the Cardiac Cath Lab, you will provide care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterizations, an invasive imaging procedure that evaluates heart functionIn this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
A caregiver in this position worksdays from 6:30AM – 5:00PM
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Invasive Lab.
Assess, prepare and position patients for procedures.
Perform conscious sedation and hemodynamic monitoring.
Prepare, implement and document plans of care.
Communicate patients’ condition to physicians before, during and after procedures.
Assist with and/or facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures.
Set up and provide equipment and supplies before, during and after procedures.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Two years of recent critical care nursing experience
Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sof Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
