The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition,diagnosesandtreatspatients with digestive problems and conditions.Our specialists use innovative diagnostic tools and treatments such as upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for esophageal, stomach and duodenal disorders, endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration, ablative techniques for Barrett’s esophagus,colonoscopiesand therapeutic interventions for colonic disease.By joining Stuart’s GI Department as an RN, you will serve as the department’s primary clinical GI phone nurse and will work closely with the GI procedure nurse and medical assistants. Along with serving as a phone nurse, you will alsoprovide backup support for procedures, manage in-baskets and assistother caregivers and clinic panels as needed.

A caregiver in this position worksMonday-Fridayfrom 8:00AM – 4:30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.

• Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephonetriageandestablishcare plans.

• Administer medications and treatments.

• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.

• Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.

• Assistwith specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeuticproceduresand specialized patient care equipment.

• Develop, evaluate,adaptand document health education and provide it to patients and families.

• Cover other nursing roles within the department.

• Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

• One year of recent experience as an RN

• Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
