The Section of Clinical Cardiology is often times the area where patients first have access to specialized inpatient and outpatient heart care and long-term management of their conditions. We offer the latest innovations in cardiac care and clinical therapies to patients of all ages.We provide state-of-the-art tests and procedures to help make an accurate diagnosis and create a treatment plan.We see patients with very common heart problems, such as angina, artery problems, valvular heart disease and heart failure, and treat patients with some very rare forms of heart disease, including those who have been told by other doctors that their condition cannot be treated.
By joining this team as an RN, you willassistfellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, frominitialintroduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients,familiesand visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide important medical information as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM –4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment.
Perform telephone triage.
Notify physicians/LIPs of abnormal findings.
Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient,familyand health care team.
Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
Assistwith specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response.
Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
Cover other nursing roles within the department.
Develop, evaluate,adaptand document education to learning needs.
Provide health education to patients and families.
Participate in quality initiatives, processimprovementsand research activities to improve patient outcomes, patientexperienceand patient safety.
Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identify annual core competencies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
One year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)- if you do not currently have a BSN, itisrequiredtobe obtained within three years of hire
Two to four years of Cardiology experience
Ambulatory cardiology experience
Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
