Akron General’s27-bed5400 Oncology Unit provides care to cancerand hospicepatients, trains caregivers to give therapy and provides hands-on learning to achieve chemotherapy competency. As an RN, you will deliver exceptionalcare,throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed

APRNcaregiver in this position works varyingdays and hours.Working48 hoursper 6-week period will be required.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement andmonitorpatient care plans.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Monitor,recordand communicate patients’ conditions.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess andcoordinatepatients’ discharge needs.
Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursingstudy
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
(ONS) Chemo/Bio course complete within two years of employment if employed onunitsinpatient and/or outpatient where chemo is administered
External applicants:two years of recent related nursing experience
Internal applicants:less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants
Will consider licensed military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sof Science in Nursing (BSN)
