The Quality Inspector I is an entry-level position responsible for performing basic inspections of fire apparatus components and assemblies. This role supports the quality team by ensuring that parts and builds meet defined specifications and standards, including NFPA compliance. Quality Inspector I works under close supervision and is expected to grow into more advanced inspection responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Verify basic compliance with build sheets, work instructions, and quality checklists.
  2. Assist in documenting inspection results and reporting non-conformances.
  3. Support pre-delivery inspections and assist with quality audits.
  4. Verify basic dimensional requirements called out on the build specification documents.
  5. Support senior inspectors during audits or more technical inspections.
  6. Escalate issues to higher-level inspectors or supervisors.
  7. Follow the inspection checklist and report the results on the inspection form.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.
  9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Tools to be utilized:

Hand tools, power tools, calipers, and quality measuring equipment.



Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Education, and/or

Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing or quality inspection preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical components required.
  • Ability to read simple blueprints or shop drawings preferred.
  • Previous use of basic inspection tools (tape measure, calipers, gauges) Required.
  • Familiarity with ISO/NFPA standards preferred.

Language:

  • Able to read, write and understand procedures, written instructions, department communications.
  • Able to communicate written and verbal information to members of the QC team and other individuals clearly and effectively
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Math:

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer:

  • Basic PC functions and Microsoft Office application skills for data entry and reporting.

Abilities:

  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and support/report as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
