RJC Lead Auditor – Precious Metals & Jewellery Sector

Location: Switzerland (with flexible operational base)
Type: Freelance / Independent Consultant
Required Languages: Italian, French and/or German
Availability: Frequent travel to Switzerland

In the jewellery and precious metals sector, we support organizations in achieving international Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) certification standards, supply chain traceability and ethical compliance, with particular focus on social responsibility, environmental stewardship and supply chain transparency.

We are seeking experienced RJC Lead Auditors to conduct responsibility and compliance audits with clients in the jewellery and precious metals sector in Switzerland. The position requires complete autonomy in managing RJC audits, multilingual communication skills and deep knowledge of responsible certification systems, supply chain traceability and ethical compliance.

The professional will operate as an independent consultant, ensuring high-quality audits, verification of RJC criteria compliance, identification of non-conformities and formulation of strategic recommendations to improve responsibility and sustainability performance in the precious metals sector.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Degree in Engineering, Social Sciences, Law, Human Resources, Geology or related disciplines

  • RJC Lead Auditor Certification (mandatory)

  • Lead Auditor Certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 (preferred)

  • Continuous training in ethical auditing and responsibility in the precious metals sector

  • Knowledge of international regulations on conflict minerals and responsibility

  • Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in responsibility or sustainability audits

  • Minimum 3-5 years as RJC Lead Auditor with clients in the jewellery/precious metals sector

  • Audit experience with Swiss or European organizations

  • Knowledge of the jewellery, goldsmithing and precious metals sector

  • Experience in regulatory compliance and human rights assessments

  • Experience in identifying and managing non-conformities

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of RJC Standards (Code of Practices)
  • Knowledge of international regulations on conflict minerals (Dodd-Frank, EU Regulation 2017/821)
  • Knowledge of EU regulations on sustainability and due diligence
  • Competence in traceability and chain of custody of precious metals
  • Competence in assessing responsibility and compliance risks
  • Use of audit software and document management systems
  • Competence in ESG analysis in the jewellery sector
  • Knowledge of supply chain management in the precious metals sector

Languages

  • Italian and/or French and/or German (fluent – at least one of the latter two mandatory)
  • English (preferred)
